Pressure washing a roof in Fort Myers Florida
Cleaning a roof in the Forest Country Club

When it comes to the How to's of pressure washing a roof in the Fort Myers or Naples, Florida area, I'm frequently asked the same questions:

1.    Are you going to break any tiles when you are pressure washing my roof?

2.    Will my plants be affected by the pressure washing process?

3.    Is it really necessary to get my roof pressure washed?

4.    Are the chemicals you use to pressure wash my roof safe?

5.    Is your company properly insured to pressure wash my roof?

Let me start by answering the first question. Are you going to break any tiles when you are pressure washing my roof? Roof tiles are a breakable material, so any time we have to step onto a roof we can risk breaking the tiles. However, we do everything we can to avoid breakage. We always take the necessary precautions while we are up on the roof. We have been instructed by roofing companies in Fort Myers and Naples Fl on how to properly walk on the roofs and we train our team based upon this expert advice.

Of course a lot depends on the age your roof. An old roof tends to have tiles that may be more brittle. In the case of an old roof we would try to minimize walking on your roof as much as possible. Many times we are able to spray our "Soft Wash" chemicals on your roof from the ground or from a ladder and this way we avoid walking on it all together. At Coastline Window Cleaning, we are committed to doing everything we can ensure that the roof tiles do not break.

If for some reason the tiles do break you can rest assured knowing that we will have them repaired at our cost. We work closely with several roofers in the area to make sure that we are able to get out there and fix your roof properly and in a timely manner.

Will my plants be affected by the pressure washing process? The main reason why plants die during pressure washing process is because of the improper techniques being used. One of the reasons is a lack of water saturation on the vegetation during the pressure washing process. Another is that some companies cover the plants to keep the chlorine or other chemicals from reaching the plants. The problem with this process is that due to the high temperatures in the Florida sun the plants are unable to breathe properly. Sometimes they're smothered and they can’t breathe or the chemicals run into the roots of plants and they are suffocated.

At Coastline Window Cleaning we ensure that someone is constantly watering the vegetation. By keeping the vegetation wet during the pressure washing process we ensure that no chlorine or chemicals remain on the plants, leaving them unaffected.

We do however ask that if you're going to be planting annuals or any another flower around the house, that you definitely wait until after the pressure washing process to do so. The reason being is that these plants are so new that they haven't had a chance to mature and this may cause them to be vulnerable to the pressure washing.

Is it really necessary to get my roof pressure washed? No you don't have to get your roof pressure washed unless you're in a deed restricted area in your neighborhood that insists you do it! One of the benefits of pressure washing your roofs is obviously aesthetics.  A freshly cleaned roof always looks much nicer and has more curb appeal than an unattended one. Another reason to pressure wash your roof is to get rid of all the mold and mildew that accumulates over time. It's been documented that cleaning off the mold and mildew from your roof top can actually lower your electric bill significantly. Obviously, a darker roof is a clear sign that you'll attract more heat and the hotter the roof gets - the higher your electric bill can be!

Are the chemicals you use to pressure wash my roof safe? Yes the chemicals we use are totally safe on your roof as long as whoever is applying the chemicals makes sure that they rinse them off properly. They also must insure to saturate the vegetation thoroughly and rinse the roof completely after applying.

You can be assured that Coastline Window Cleaning and its entire staff will follow these instructions to the T, always!

Is your company properly insured to pressure wash my roof? Yes, Coastline Window Cleaning is properly insured to pressure wash your roof. We have an insurance policy worth $2 million dollars in liability insurance. More importantly, we are fully covered under our workman's compensation policy. Many companies in Southwest Florida do not carry a workman’s comp policy due to the fact that we happen to fall under the roofing code which is the highest workman's comp rate rate in the state of Florida. Our owner Jason Evers is passionate about removing unlicensed and uninsured contractors from Southwest Florida... see his interview on Wink News.

It is imperative that all homeowners ask to see the proper documentation, license, insurance and workman’s comp from any company offering pressure washing services. Please refer back to my webpage under the “Learn More” section where we have listed our Workmen's Compensation insurance information.

Our owner has made it his personal mission to bring qualified, licensed and insured companies and homeowners together, in 2008 he created a website called Quality Service Pros that educates homeowners on "HIRING SMART" while being able to team them up with pre-qualified "Certified Pros" in Lee and Collier county.
